RUTH BARRETO GARCÍA

DELAISLA PRODUCCIONES MUSICALES is directed by Ruth Barreto, Senior Technician in Audiovisuals and Shows and graduated in Hotel Management, Mediation and Cultural Training, as well as Digital Transformation, Business Management and Entrepreneurship of cultural and creative companies.

In her artistic facet, Ruth Barreto is fundamentally self-taught. She studied piano and musical language for 4 years at the Sanchez Trujillo Conservatory and has taken classes with great musical masters such as Beatriz Alonso (singing) and Miguel Manescau (guitar) respectively. This Canarian composer, author, singer, producer and musical activist, who has dedicated more than two decades to music. Her most important project is Ruts & La Isla Music under which she has been recognized in 2021 with the Solajero Award from Cadena Ser Canarias for her career, and her music: a mix of Reggae and Neo Soul with a Latin character. Ruts & La Isla Music develops its work independently, therefore, produces its own shows, as well as, its discographic works that have taken it to important festivals, halls and theaters. Granca Live Fest, Rototom Sunsplash, Womad, Encuentro Veneguera, Boreal and Arn Blue & Green, among others, have listened to her musical repertoire of her own lyrics full of optimism, strength and social commitment. Her experience and uniqueness have made her open concerts of legendary artists such as the English band UB40 and share the stage with Rosalía, Juanes, Macaco, Gentleman, Chojin, etcetera.

In her role as a cultural agent, she has played key roles as artistic director and producer in festivals such as the Reggae Can Festival with nine editions and Carnaval Reggae Festival with six editions, among its most outstanding events.

His 10 years of experience in television (El Expreso de Mediodía, El Programa de Artíles, where he worked as a sound technician, has given him a comprehensive understanding of the management of cultural events.

TOÑO ALONSO EXPÓSITO

Toño Alonso is the past and present of Canarian reggae. Drummer of great punch, committed to the groove, and in love with reggae, he has more than thirty years of experience. From his musical curriculum we highlight the responsibility of carrying the rhythms of Brinsley Forde (Aswad), Junior Marvin (guitarist of The Wailers), Africuya, Dactah Chando, Eclipse Reggae, and currently Ruts & La Isla Music.

He is the real driving force behind the Reggae Can concept and together with Ruth, founder of the Reggae Can Festival project. Creator of the reggae website: Canarias Reggae (canariasreggae.com).

Co-founder of the first reggae backing band in the Canary Islands.

His experience in the hospitality industry as Warehouse Manager in several five-star hotels has enabled him to bring to each project the necessary planning and organization to execute the tasks.
